New lawsuit against Engin Polat!
A new indictment has been prepared against Engin Polat, who is currently under arrest on charges of money laundering and tax evasion. The indictment seeks up to 9 years in prison for Polat on the grounds that he unlawfully shared a phone conversation on his social media account.
The indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office lists Halil İbrahim Kalkan as the complainant and Engin Polat as the suspect.
The indictment states that the complainant, Kalkan, called the workplace to reach the suspect, Engin Polat, and asked employees there about Polat. It was also noted in the indictment that the phone conversation was recorded by Polat's employees in a way that the phone number was visible.
The indictment further states that Engin Polat shared these images on his social media account in a way that the complainant's number was visible, noting: “The suspect, whose defense was taken regarding the incident, has accepted the accusation. When the entire scope of the file is evaluated together, it is understood that sufficient evidence and suspicion have been obtained to open a public lawsuit regarding Engin Polat committing the crimes attributed to him by unlawfully disclosing the communication contents between the complainant and others and by sharing images containing the complainant's GSM information.”
The indictment requests that Engin Polat be sentenced to 4 to 9 years in prison for the crimes of 'violating the confidentiality of communication' and 'unlawfully disseminating or seizing data.'
