Following the hotel fire in Bolu, the MHP has submitted a new legislative proposal to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). Fire departments will be required to respond to fires within 10 minutes.
MHP Deputy Chairman İsmail Özdemir shared the details of the legislative proposal.
Making a statement on his social media account, Özdemir used the following expressions:
"We experienced in a very painful way in Bolu the critical importance of the response time to fires and other disasters in our country for keeping our people alive. In this context, we have submitted to our parliament a new legislative proposal that will make it mandatory for fire departments in every province to respond to fires and other disasters within a maximum of 10 minutes. Furthermore, we are preparing our legislative proposal that envisions the periodic inspection of tourism facilities in accordance with the 'Regulation on the Protection of Buildings from Fire.' As our Chairman Mr. Devlet Bahçeli stated in our TBMM Group meeting, as the MHP, we will resolutely follow up to the end on the steps that need to be taken both to ensure that such disasters do not happen again and to ensure that those responsible, whoever they may be, receive the necessary punishment."
