Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer stated, "You have been keeping a 'Democracy Watch' in Esenyurt Square for days. I find your efforts very valuable and I salute your struggle with my most sincere feelings."
A statement written in prison by CHP's Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer, who was arrested and replaced by a government-appointed trustee, has been shared on his social media account.
Stating that a month has passed since he was put in prison, Özer's statement is as follows:
“My very dear people of Esenyurt, a month has passed since I was arrested and put in Silivri Prison through a political operation. Inside, I am trying not to let the valuable votes you cast go to waste and to protect the popular will with the awareness of the responsibility you have placed upon me. You have also been keeping a 'Democracy Watch' in Esenyurt Square for days. I find your efforts very valuable and I salute your struggle with my most sincere feelings. The history of struggle has shown us that, no matter what, justice, law, and truth have always prevailed in the end. We are also in the right, and we will win. And we will be together again, we will govern together.”
