New party message from CHP leader Özgür Özel: 'We will never leave our nation without an alternative'

The elected Chairman of the CHP, Özgür Özel, made striking assessments regarding discussions of a new party following the "absolute nullity" ruling issued against his party. Speaking to Tavır newspaper, Özel stated that if the current process in the CHP continues, a new political formation could come to the agenda.

"WE ARE THE CADRES WHO DEFEATED THE AK PARTY FOR THE FIRST TIME IN ITS HISTORY"

Özel used the following expressions in his statement:

"We are the cadres who made the CHP the leading party after 47 years. We are the cadres who defeated the AK Party for the first time in its history. That is why we are under attack. To stop our march to power, they invented an absolute nullity lawsuit using a method never before seen in history. Erdoğan has been speaking and struggling for days to explain that he has nothing to do with this coup, but it is in vain. Everyone knows this is not an internal matter of the CHP. Erdoğan is right at the heart of this business. The AK Party has appointed a nullity, a trustee, to our party to get rid of the cadres who defeated them. This is what we are experiencing. We are not the losing CHP; we are the winning CHP. We are not the appointed CHP; we are the elected CHP. We will fight to the end to save our party, which we have grown with labor, street by street, square by square, from occupation."

"WE WILL NEVER LEAVE OUR NATION WITHOUT AN ALTERNATIVE"

Speaking about the possibility of a new party, Özel stated that he has been listening to the views of citizens during his recent provincial visits and made the following assessment:

"I have made 15 provincial visits since the nullity ruling. We are meeting with our people at eye level. We continue to listen to our citizens and ask the public for direction. If the occupation of the CHP does not end, we will never leave our nation without an alternative. If necessary, we will open a clean slate with a new party. We will build a new politics, democratic competition, the rule of law, and clean governance all together. We will pave the way for Turkey with a new and founding politics. This new party will not be our party. It will be the new party of women. It will be the new party of the youth. It will be the party of retirees, laborers, farmers, tradesmen, the unemployed, the poor, and the millions whose hope has been taken away."

"POLITICS WILL RETURN TO NORMAL"

Özel used the following expressions in the continuation of his statements:

"Politics will return to normal. Conspiracies, slanders, and political lawsuits will end. Corruption in the state will end. This order, which survives on waste, nepotism, favoritism, and eating the rights of others, will now end. Politics will be conducted by taking authority only from the nation and by being accountable to the nation. Turkey will be a country governed by institutions and rules, where everyone is equal. Only then will abundance and prosperity come to these lands. Turkey will rise as a strong country admired for its democracy and economy. This new path will be the path of the nation against the dark order of the AK Party. This path will be the path of justice and equality. This path will be the path of democracy, development, and prosperity. This path will be the path that lifts Turkey up."
