New regulation on traffic fines from the Ministry of Interior: Multimedia screen fine canceled

The Ministry of Interior has issued an important statement regarding traffic fines for in-vehicle multimedia screens and music systems. The Ministry announced that fines applied to screens within the driver's field of vision will be suspended until a new regulation is issued. During this process, all fines issued since February 27, 2026, will be canceled.

PENALTY APPLICATION HAD BEEN INITIATED ACCORDING TO LAW AMENDMENT

According to the statement made by the Ministry, with the amendment to Law No. 7574, which was published in the Official Gazette on February 27, 2026, and entered into force, penal procedures had been initiated regarding display devices in the driver's viewing and usage area. However, in order for this practice to be implemented consistently and fairly in all vehicles, the Ministry of Interior decided to prepare a new regulation.

WARNING AND INSPECTION REGARDING MUSIC SYSTEMS

In its statement, the Ministry of Interior also included inspections regarding modified music systems. Inspections to be carried out from today until April 1, 2026, will only serve the purpose of informing and guiding drivers. After April 1, the guidance process will end, and strict inspections involving penal sanctions will begin.

The Ministry decided to cancel all fines issued since February 27, 2026, in relation to the new regulation that entered into force on that date.
