Reminding that similar release rumors have surfaced before, Atik stated that Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç had previously asserted that the 42-year prison sentence handed down in the Kobani case was final and that, therefore, a release was not possible.

However, Atik pointed out that this decision has not yet passed through the appellate and Supreme Court stages. For this reason, he noted that one cannot speak of a final, definitive judgment.

Fatih Atik also touched upon the third "violation of rights" ruling issued by the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) regarding Selahattin Demirtaş in July. It is suggested that if this ruling becomes final on October 8, expectations for a release could come to the fore.

However, it was reported that Ministry of Justice sources have maintained a clear stance on this matter. According to the information shared by Atik, ministry sources stated that "a release is not on the agenda."
