New security measures in schools following attacks

Following attacks targeting schools in Şanlıurfa and Kahramanmaraş, security measures at educational institutions have been expanded across Turkey. Simultaneous operations were launched in 81 provinces under the instruction of the Ministry of Interior.

In this context, the presence of police teams in front of and around schools has been increased, with intensive inspections carried out, particularly during class arrival and dismissal times. General Information Gathering (GBT) checks were performed on individuals deemed suspicious.

Teams stationed around primary, middle, and high schools in Ankara have intensified both pedestrian and vehicle checks. It was reported that similar practices have been implemented around some schools in Istanbul, where teams have been stopping vehicles to inspect drivers and conducting checks on suspicious individuals.

Within the framework of the implemented measures, it was stated that at least two police officers have been assigned to school entrances, and reinforcement teams will be deployed if necessary.

Authorities emphasized that the measures taken will be updated and maintained based on risk analyses across the country, and that the safety of students and educators remains a priority.
