New statement from Mansur Yavaş on presidential debates: 'After this point...'

Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Vahap Seçer and Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş visited the CHP Mut District Headquarters and met with party members.

Speaking there, Mansur Yavaş touched upon the constitutional debates and stated that the CHP's sensitivities are Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the flag, and the unchangeable articles of the Constitution.

Continuing his speech, Yavaş said, "We are against everyone who has a problem with this nation, this homeland, and the Turkish flag, regardless of their name, who go on television and try to set up a scheme to remove the first three articles by saying 'let's remove the 4th article.' We are Turks. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk said 'How happy is the one who says I am a Turk,' he did not say 'the one who is a Turk.' We are with everyone who is happy, pleased, and proud to live in this country. Loving the country, being proud of the country, and being proud of our past is never a crime."

Yavaş stated that when they come to power, they will restructure all state institutions within the framework of the Republic's fundamental principles, and continued as follows:

"We have no other goal than to rehabilitate all of Turkey's collapsing institutions, especially National Education, to get them back on their feet and return them to the founding settings of the Republic. We are working for future generations. There is no office left for us to expect after this point. But we have a debt to the people who entrusted this beautiful homeland to us. Just as Mustafa Kemal Atatürk entrusted this homeland to us in an independent manner, we must hand it over to our grandchildren in the same way, and we are working for this. We are sure that we will succeed."
