Describing the struggle she went through to see her baby, Ayşe K. said, "Eymen was born during the pandemic process. He was 29 weeks old, the placenta had detached, and I was a very urgent patient. We called the 112 Emergency Call Center, and an ambulance arrived. They took us to the hospital. There were two very well-equipped hospitals next to us, very close to us. They skipped those two hospitals and brought us directly to the Private Reyap Hospital. I was already rushed into surgery there. The child was taken to the neonatal intensive care unit. The doctor who delivered my baby came and spoke with me. He said he heard the child crying and that he had been taken to intensive care. He reassured me by saying the child would be fine, would recover, and there was nothing to fear because oxygen had reached him. He said they had intubated the child and that he would remain in intensive care for a long time. Two days later, I went to talk to the doctor and said I wanted to see the child. They told me they 'could not show the child.' I insisted that I needed to see the child because I am his mother and I want to see my child. I asked for a photo, at least to see what my child looked like, saying I want to see my child, this is my right... They said they would give me a photo the next day, and the next day I was given a photo taken in the intensive care unit. We could not get any information about the child. Every time he called us, he said the treatment was continuing and there was no new development. The child did not have any complications in intensive care and remained intubated for 57 days. They started calling me in toward the end of Eymen Ali's stay, unable to withstand my insistence and intense pressure. It was the end of the 4th month, the discharge time had come, and they started letting me inside," she said.

'THE CHILD WAS SCRATCHING ME FROM HUNGER'

Seeing baby Eymen months later, mother Ayşe K. stated, "I saw that Eymen was very neglected; they were not interested in any way, and there were other babies there too. I wanted to have skin-to-skin contact with Eymen, and I was constantly requesting this. They could no longer remain indifferent to how demanding I was, and they were calling me, but they only started calling me toward the end of the discharge, at the end of the 4th month. When I took the baby into my arms, the child was scratching me from hunger. I started to feed and breastfeed the child. The child was so hungry that he started sucking immediately; we are talking about a premature baby. A baby whose sucking reflex had not developed... A baby who had remained intubated for a long time started sucking. That's how hungry they must have left the child there," she said.

'EYMEN IS 90 PERCENT DISABLED AND THEY CAUSED THIS'

Ayşe K. said, "Eymen was aspirated twice there, and currently, it is not written in the epicrisis report they wrote that Eymen was aspirated. This information is missing. The child was aspirated twice there, and his lungs were damaged. Eymen will pay the price for what he experienced. Eymen is currently over 90 percent disabled, and they caused this. Perhaps if the aspiration process had not happened, Eymen would be continuing his life as a healthy child today. Because I have seen many children who were born at 26-27 weeks and continued their lives. They cannot attribute this to prematurity. There are many children who were born premature and completed their development. They caused this, especially Nurse Yeşim while feeding him. It is very clear that there was negligence. The child vomited, and the vomit went back into his lungs. The child remained in this state for a long time. The child returned from the brink of death twice. If I had gone to a state hospital, if I had gone to a research hospital, if I had gone to another hospital at that moment, if I had encountered people who did their jobs well, Eymen might be in a different situation today," she said.

Ayşe K. stated, "They demanded about 3,500 TL for bed fees from us at that time. When my mother-in-law and my husband said it was a very high amount and we would not pay it, they lowered it to 2,000 TL. They did not issue an invoice. Certain medicines were requested; we bought and gave many medicines at that time. Fırat Sarı and his nurses requested the medicines from us. We took medicine to them many times. We ourselves procured and took the medicines that he said he would give to the child, vitamins, and other medicines that I cannot think of right now," she said.
