The incident occurred on 120th Street in the Yakuplu neighborhood of Beylikdüzü. According to reports, the neighborhood has been without power for three days. While it was learned that Boğaziçi Electricity Distribution Inc. (BEDAŞ) teams only began fault detection and measurement work at the end of the third day, local residents took to the street to express their frustration, stating that the food in their refrigerators had spoiled and was emitting a foul odor.

“I AM 80 PERCENT DISABLED AND CANNOT STAND”

Resident Veysel Derviş, who stated that he had to send his dialysis-patient wife to his son-in-law's house due to the outage and noted that he is 80 percent disabled, said: “I live in this neighborhood. There has been no electricity for 3 days. We have called 186 so many times. They are acting indifferent. They sent two men. Can this electricity be fixed with two men? They aren't even coming to measure a place two steps away. What are these people supposed to do? I have a patient who is on dialysis. I sent her to my son-in-law's. I am 80 percent disabled myself and cannot stand. This is unacceptable. I am wondering how I will climb all those stairs. The meat in everyone's refrigerators has rotted.” he said.

“THEY DON'T EVEN ANSWER OUR CALLS ANYMORE”

Another resident, Sultan Bayav, who expressed that she was a victim of the situation, said: “We have been without electricity for 3 days. We made preparations for winter. Everything in a house depends on electricity. The dishwasher, the vacuum cleaner, the children's computers. There is no internet without electricity. The house needs to be cleaned. Everything in the fridge has spoiled. There is a smell in the house. What have I been waiting for for three days? If they know how to cut my power in a heartbeat when I don't pay my bill, shouldn't they at least fix my fault within a day? Does a massive electricity sector not have engineers or workers? You step out of the building door, but you can't get back into your home.”

The electricity isn't coming back on automatically. Electricity is the problem of our age; what can I do? We call 186, and the customer representative there says it will come at 2 o'clock.
