No funds for retirees, but a feast in Parliament: TBMM iftar menu revealed! Entrecôte on a bed of keşkek, artichoke with avocado fava

TBMM Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş hosted an iftar dinner at the Parliament yesterday (March 3).

The iftar, which was also attended by AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, was attended by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, AKP Deputy Chairman Efkan Ala, DEM Party deputies, several ministers, and former TBMM Speakers Bülent Arınç, Mustafa Şentop, Binali Yıldırım, Ömer İzgi, Cemil Çiçek, as well as other members of parliament.

CHP leader Özgür Özel, who had previously stated he would attend, decided not to go to the iftar dinner due to the arrest of Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan. The IYI Party front, meanwhile, held a separate iftar dinner elsewhere in the Parliament.

NOTHING WAS MISSING AT THE IFTAR DINNER

The iftar menu at the TBMM has also been revealed. The menu offered to the guests was truly extensive.

The iftar dinner menu is as follows:

- Lebeniye soup

- Iftar plate (Honey, clotted cream, dates, sun-dried apricots, almonds, walnuts, white cheese, aged kashar cheese, pastrami, tomatoes, cucumbers, seasonal greens, çiğ köfte, black and green olives)

- Artichoke with avocado fava and caramelized onions

- Kibbeh and crispy vegetable pastry

- Green salad with strawberries, sliced almonds, and pomegranate

- Beef entrecôte on a bed of keşkek

- Güllaç with hazelnuts and pomegranate

- Ginger and sumac sherbet.

NO FUNDS FOR RETIREES, BUT A FEAST IN PARLIAMENT

On the other hand, while millions of retirees condemned to poverty wages were expecting an increase in their holiday bonuses, AKP Group Chairman Abdullah Güler had stated regarding the issue, "We struggled to generate resources."

The fact that a 'feast'-like iftar dinner was held at the TBMM while no funds could be generated for retirees drew backlash.
