No regular session in the new week: All eyes in the Turkish Parliament are on the resolution commission

Following an intense and controversial week, no regular session is expected in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) General Assembly this week. The National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission, established for the second resolution process dubbed 'Terror-Free Turkey,' aims to continue its work on preparing a joint report. Additionally, the Turkish Grand National Assembly is preparing to host a delegation from the Spanish Congress of Deputies.

No regular session in the new week: All eyes in the Turkish Parliament are on the resolution commission

While the agenda in the Turkish Grand National Assembly was intense and occasionally tense last week, a legislative proposal to increase the lowest pension to 20 thousand liras was passed in the General Assembly. However, no regular work is planned for the Assembly General Assembly next week due to the school semester break. It is stated that only short meetings will be held in the General Assembly as most deputies are expected to be outside of Ankara.

On the other hand, an intense work schedule will continue in the National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission, which includes deputies from various parties. The drafting commission includes AKP Group Deputy Chairman Abdulhamit Gül, CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir, DEM Party Istanbul Deputy Cengiz Çiçek, MHP Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız, and New Way Group Chairman Bülent Kaya. The commission is preparing to hold its fifth meeting under the chairmanship of Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş.

TURKEY-SPAIN DIPLOMATIC CONTACTS INTENSIFY

Diplomatic traffic will also be notable in the Turkish Grand National Assembly this week. President of the Spanish Congress of Deputies Francina Armengol Socias and her accompanying delegation will pay an official visit to Turkey. It was stated that Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş will host Socias and her delegation on Monday, January 26, and a joint press conference is planned following the meeting.

The contacts of the Spanish delegation will not be limited to this; it was shared that Socias will also hold a separate meeting with the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Fuat Oktay.

Following an intense period, the Turkish Grand National Assembly will focus more on report work in the commission and international relations this week.
