Notable move by Sedat Peker regarding Devlet Bahçeli: He reshared the message of a prominent MHP figure

Sedat Peker, the organized crime leader known to be living in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and subject to an Interpol red notice, has drawn attention with his social media posts regarding MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli.

Following Bahçeli's heart treatment, Peker shared messages posted by party officials on his own X account regarding the MHP leader's health status.

Most recently, Peker shared a message from MHP Deputy Chairman İzzet Ulvi Yönter, whose name has also been linked to the Sinan Ateş murder, in which Yönter expressed his well-wishes for Bahçeli's health.

WHAT HAD BAHÇELİ SAID ABOUT PEKER'S ALLEGATIONS?

The sensitivity Peker showed on his social media account regarding the MHP leader's health brings to mind the reaction the MHP leader gave in the past to Peker's allegations.

In 2021, when Peker was exposing criminal relationships between politics, the mafia, and capital in Turkey through videos, MHP leader Bahçeli said regarding the allegations, "Those who associate the People's Alliance with the mafia have succumbed to their own corrupt nature and temperament. The rule of gangs in Turkey has ended. While the rule of law exists, the existence of the mafia cannot be considered. It is not the mafia order that prevails in Turkey, but the sovereignty of the nation."

In another statement regarding Peker's allegations, Bahçeli had used the following expressions: "The helplessness and opportunism of opposition parties that are eager to chase after social media revelations to reap rent and political gain have reached a point that can no longer be covered up. Recent developments have shown that it is essential for social media to be brought under control. Making people's private lives a tool for politics is a grave immorality. If politics produces factionalism rather than service, it is very difficult to overcome. If there is a crime, and moreover, if the perpetrator has been identified, what needs to be done about it is clear according to the provisions of the current legislation. The helplessness and opportunism of opposition parties that are eager to chase after social media revelations to reap rent and political gain have reached a point that can no longer be covered up."
