NSC meeting concludes: Emphasis on a terror-free Turkey and Israel

NSC meeting concludes: Emphasis on a terror-free Turkey and Israel

The National Security Council met under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

During the meeting, operations conducted against terrorist organizations, regional and global developments, and Turkey’s security policies were evaluated comprehensively.

The Council emphasized that efforts toward the goal of a “terror-free Turkey” will be pursued with determination, and expressed satisfaction with efforts aimed at ending the war on the Israel-US-Iran axis.

The following statements were included in the official announcement:

The National Security Council met on April 8, 2026, under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

At the meeting;

1. Information was presented to the Council regarding activities carried out with perseverance, determination, and success both domestically and abroad against all kinds of threats and dangers to our national unity and survival, primarily the PKK/KCK-PYD/YPG, FETÖ, and DAESH terrorist organizations, as well as recent international developments.

2. Efforts conducted to reach the goal of a terror-free Turkey and the vision of a terror-free region were discussed. It was emphasized that the wars, conflicts, and provocations occurring in our vicinity will not be allowed to sabotage this process, and that terrorism will be removed from our nation's agenda permanently.

3. Satisfaction was expressed regarding efforts to end the war between Israel and the US and Iran, which is dragging our region and the entire world into great uncertainty and negatively affecting global economic balances; it was reiterated that all measures regarding the security of our citizens and our borders will continue to be taken meticulously.

4. The effects of wars and conflicts in our region on Iraq were discussed; the importance of maintaining the peace of the friendly and brotherly Iraqi people, as well as the stability and security environment in the country, was emphasized.

5. It was stated that the Israeli Administration’s ceasefire violations in Gaza and attempts to seize West Bank lands, as well as its actions aimed at eroding the historical identity and legal status of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Haram al-Sharif, harm the peace process and the two-state solution approach. Emphasizing that the Israeli Administration’s extension of its occupation policies to Lebanon is causing new humanitarian tragedies, the international community was called upon to take action against these unlawful acts; our strong support for Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity was reaffirmed.

6. Developments recorded within the scope of establishing peace, stability, and tranquility in Syria were evaluated; it was underlined that efforts aimed at implementing the agreement regarding the integration process that will consolidate the country’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and unity on the basis of a single state and a single army will be supported with determination within the framework of the law of brotherhood and neighborliness.

7. The course of the Russia-Ukraine War was discussed; it was emphasized that the spread of attacks to the Black Sea and their becoming a threat to energy security will not be tolerated, and a call was made for all parties to act with restraint.

8. It was stated that we are going through a historical period in which the international security environment is deeply shaken by wars and conflicts; it was emphasized that our country, which has made the resolution of disputes through negotiation and diplomacy a principle, will continue its sincere efforts toward establishing peace in cooperation with its allies and friends, in its capacity as an island of stability.
