Number of detentions increases in investigation into kidnapping of Erhan Karaal

Developments continue in the kidnapping incident that took place in Istanbul recently. Erhan Karaal, who serves as the Deputy General Manager of Kültür A.Ş., was kidnapped by unidentified individuals in front of his home in Maltepe on the evening of Wednesday, June 17.

According to information obtained, Karaal was forced into a vehicle by three people who got out of a white car as he was leaving his home in the evening. It is alleged that the attackers beat Karaal and placed a black bag over his head. It was learned that Karaal's child and a neighbor were among those who witnessed the incident.

His wife, who realized that Karaal had been kidnapped, immediately went to the police station to report the situation. As a result of the investigations at the scene, it was determined that the attackers used a vehicle with fake license plates that was the same model and color as the original.

In the investigation conducted by police and prosecution teams, the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office intervened and an in-depth investigation into the incident was launched. It was reported that five people were initially detained as part of the investigation. Following subsequent operations, one more person was detained, and two more suspects were apprehended yesterday evening. With the latest development, the total number of people detained in connection with the incident has reached ten.

As a result of searches conducted in recent days, it was announced that Erhan Karaal was found at a construction site in Tuzla. It was stated that Karaal, who was severely beaten, was taken to intensive care after initial interventions at the scene. It is reported that his health condition remains serious.
