Number of detentions rises in Otokoç attack

An armed attack that occurred in Istanbul this morning targeted the Otokoç General Directorate, affiliated with Koç Holding, located in Maltepe. During the attack carried out by masked assailants, bullets struck the general directorate building, and the suspects who fled after the incident were apprehended through the efforts of police teams.

ATTACK TOOK PLACE IN MALTEPE

The incident occurred at the Otokoç General Directorate building located in the Aydınevler neighborhood of Maltepe district.

According to allegations, masked assailants opened fire on the workplace with weapons. As a result of the gunfire, two bullets struck the exterior of the building. While there were no casualties or injuries in the attack, material damage occurred to the building.

It was stated that the suspects, who fled after the attack, discarded the weapons they used in the incident along with their clothing in the garden of a nearby shopping mall.

It was reported that the suspects then left the area by taking a taxi.

POLICE LAUNCHED A WIDE-SCALE OPERATION

Upon notification, numerous police teams were dispatched to the scene. While teams took extensive security measures in the surrounding area, a comprehensive investigation was launched to apprehend the perpetrators of the attack.

As a result of their work analyzing security cameras and escape routes, police teams identified two suspects believed to be connected to the attack.

TWO SUSPECTS DETAINED

It was announced that two individuals were detained around 17:00 as part of the operation conducted following the incident.

It was learned that the processing of the suspects at the police station is ongoing.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE POLICE

The Istanbul Police Department issued a written statement regarding the incident.

The statement included the following: "Following the determination that a workplace was fired upon in the incident that occurred in the Aydınevler neighborhood of Maltepe district on June 7, 2026, the Istanbul Police Department launched an investigation and research, identifying the escape routes of the suspects and initiating efforts to apprehend them; two individuals were captured and detained in a short time. The investigation into the matter is continuing. Presented for public information."

CHIEF PUBLIC PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE LAUNCHED AN INVESTIGATION

The Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office also issued a statement regarding the incident.

In the statement from the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was said: "An investigation has been immediately launched regarding the incident of gunfire at the Otokoç General Directorate located in the Aydınevler neighborhood of Maltepe district. The ongoing investigation is continuing meticulously."
