Number of Syrians returning to their country announced
Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya has announced the number of Syrians who have returned to their country.
Since December 8, 2024, when the Bashar al-Assad regime was toppled in Syria, some of the Syrians living in Turkey have begun to return to their country.
In a statement, Minister of Interior Yerlikaya reported that the number of Syrians who have returned to their country has reached 509 thousand 387.
Stating that returns have been ongoing since 2016, Yerlikaya noted that the number of Syrians who have returned to their country over the past 9 years has reached 1 million 249 thousand 390 people.
In his post, Yerlikaya stated, "Our country conducts its migration management under the leadership of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan; it presents a model that is an example to the world with its historical experience, humanitarian approach, and rational perspective. Syrians who are returning voluntarily are experiencing sadness and joy together. We continue to carry out the voluntary return procedures of our Syrian brothers and sisters with great sensitivity under the coordination of our Presidency of Migration Management."
