Numerous arrests in 'Caspers' investigation
Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the "Caspers" criminal organization, 58 out of 97 detained suspects have been arrested.
An 839-page indictment was prepared by the Organized Crime Investigation Bureau as part of the investigation launched by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the 'Caspers' criminal organization, led by İsmail Atız, which was determined to be involved in crimes such as 'extortion', 'intentional injury', 'threats', 'drug trafficking', 'prostitution', and 'deprivation of liberty', primarily in the Bahçelievler district, as well as in the Küçükçekmece and Bağcılar districts.
223 individuals, 145 of whom were already in custody, were named as 'suspects' in the indictment. While the prepared indictment was sent to the Bakırköy High Criminal Court, new findings were reached by law enforcement units indicating that the armed criminal organization's actions and activities continued in a sustained manner. In this context, arrest and detention warrants were issued for 117 suspects at 223 different addresses, who were assessed to be involved in the organization's actions, connected or affiliated with the organization, or identified as engaging in propaganda for the organization on social media.
The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had instructed the Istanbul Provincial Police Department's Organized Crime Combat Branch to conduct simultaneous operations in 21 provinces, primarily in Istanbul, as well as Adıyaman, Amasya, Ankara, Antalya, Bitlis, Çanakkale, and Diyarbakır.
58 SUSPECTS ARRESTED
During the operations, 97 individuals were detained. The suspects, whose procedures were completed at the police station, were referred to the Bakırköy Courthouse. The suspects, whose prosecution procedures were completed there, were brought before the Criminal Judgeship of Peace. 58 suspects, including 8 children driven to crime, were arrested and sent to prison. While judicial control measures were applied to 17 individuals, 22 people were released.
