MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli made statements to the Türkgün newspaper, which is close to his party, regarding the second opening process of which he is the architect.

Having proposed the status of 'Peace Process and Politicization Coordinator' for the leader of the terrorist organization PKK, Abdullah Öcalan, on May 5, Bahçeli this time argued that the process needs a new move and a roadmap suitable for it, and said, "Instead of the founding leadership of a dissolved PKK, a structure should be built where Öcalan can maintain his influence over the organization."

Arguing that the goal of a "Terror-Free Turkey" has begun to be realized with steps taken at the right time, Bahçeli stated, "The political, legal, and social conditions that will make this possible exist in our country. Indeed, the TBMM 'National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission' has served an important function in this direction."

Stating that the goal of a more democratic and economically strong Turkey is a common expectation, Bahçeli said, "A Terror-Free Turkey is the strategic gateway to the goal of the Turkish and Turkey century, acting from such an understanding, and Turkey is carrying out activities with determination and meticulousness to completely get rid of the scourge of terrorism by crossing an important threshold."

"A NEW ROADMAP IS NECESSARY"

Stating that there is a lack of communication in the process, Bahçeli said that the necessary mechanisms should be put into operation in the new period.

Bahçeli said, "At this point, it is necessary to put forward a roadmap for the new phase and to activate the necessary mechanisms in this direction. Creating a mechanism that will make it possible to implement sanctions on the organization, authorizing state institutions to ensure the follow-up of developments, and on the other hand, making legal and administrative arrangements to bring peace and brotherhood, politics, and democratic values to the fore will serve the purpose of reaching the goal of a Terror-Free Turkey. Walking on the path to a Terror-Free Turkey with fragmented structures will delay achieving results, increase provocations, allow for foreign interventions, bring the dynamics of intra-organizational conflict to the fore and make them visible, and make achieving results difficult. The use of the phrase 'founding leader of the organization' from the very beginning is also aimed at eliminating this concern, reducing possible risks, and achieving results regarding the goal of a Terror-Free Turkey as quickly as possible."

"COORDINATOR" PROPOSAL BROUGHT TO THE AGENDA

Bahçeli stated that polyphony in the leadership structure during the liquidation processes of terrorist organizations could lead to the emergence of new structures.

In his statement, he said, "Polyphony in the leadership mechanism during the liquidation processes of terrorist organizations can cause other leaderships to emerge after the liquidation of the organization and the organization to reorganize under other names. In this context, it is essential that the interlocutor be clearly and explicitly stated during the liquidation processes of terrorism. Bahçeli stated, "This status is a definition aimed at the absolute liquidation of the organization with all its derivatives and elements upon the dissolution of the organization. The coordination was conceived with the aim of coordinating the absolute laying down of arms and liquidation of all extensions, organization managers, and militants of the PKK terrorist organization, preventing the ongoing peace process from being interrupted in its organizational aspect, and making legitimate orientations suitable for the preference of politics instead of weapons. In this direction, Öcalan's coordinator status will be limited to the liquidation process of the organization. Therefore, this coordination does not cover issues such as being the leader and representative of the Kurds, or the advocacy of ethnic and categorical rights."
