Operation against illegal betting and POS loan sharks in Istanbul! Numerous companies seized

The Istanbul Police Department's Cyber Crimes Investigation Branch, within the scope of work coordinated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, carried out a comprehensive operation targeting illegal betting and POS loan sharking.

Acting on findings from reports by the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK) and the Central Bank, the Cyber Police determined that POS devices obtained from electronic payment institutions by a company were transferred to various firms acting as sub-service providers, and that these devices were used in illegal betting activities.

Tracing the financial movements, the police identified that money transfers were made to the accounts of third parties and companies that had been processed under the "opposition to Law No. 7258".

As a result of financial analysis and field studies, it was reported that movable and immovable assets belonging to the suspects, consisting of 18 companies, 11 vehicles, 3 plots of land, and 5 residences with a market value of approximately 671 million 255 thousand Turkish Lira, were seized.

The operation was launched within the framework of efforts to combat illegal betting and POS loan sharking crimes. A simultaneous operation was carried out early this morning targeting the relevant companies, affiliated firms, and the managers and employees of these companies. In the police investigation, 10 suspects were apprehended and taken into custody.

The 10 suspects taken into custody were brought to the police station for questioning. It was reported that the investigation regarding the suspects in question is being conducted with diligence and sensitivity.
