Operation against the Karagümrük Gang in 4 provinces centered in Istanbul: Many detained
28 suspects were apprehended in an operation centered in Istanbul and spanning 4 provinces, targeting the organized crime group known publicly as the "Karagümrük gang."
Following the instructions of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Organized Crime Branch launched an operation against the criminal organization led by Nuri Ergin, nicknamed "Nuriş," who is currently in prison.
In a simultaneous operation covering a total of 4 provinces—Istanbul, Kocaeli, İzmir, and Erzincan—aimed at identifying and exposing structures carrying out criminal activities across Istanbul, particularly in Fatih, 28 suspects were apprehended and taken into custody.
During the raids, which also involved special operations teams, 3 handguns were seized during searches of the addresses.
The suspects apprehended as part of the operation were brought to the Istanbul Police Department for questioning. The investigation into the suspects is ongoing.
