Operation against those displaying weapons on social media in Ankara: 26 people apprehended
In the capital, 26 suspects were taken into custody as a result of a police operation conducted against individuals who shared videos of themselves firing weapons or posted photos with firearms on social media platforms.
The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched a large-scale investigation following the recent increase in weapon-related posts on the internet. Within this scope, as a result of technical surveillance and examinations conducted by the Ankara Police Department's Public Security Branch teams, individuals who shared moments of themselves firing weapons or images of themselves posing with weapons on their social media accounts were identified.
With the simultaneously organized operation, a special study called "Album" was carried out targeting individuals who published videos on virtual platforms intended to challenge each other with weapons. As a result of the operation, raids were conducted on the identified addresses, and a total of 26 suspects were taken into custody by the police.
