Operation at Bafra Municipality

Two people have been arrested in an operation regarding allegations of 'embezzlement' at a cemetery belonging to the Samsun Bafra Municipality. It was determined that between 2015 and 2024, receipts were issued for grave site fees collected in cash at the cemetery, but the money received was not deposited into the municipality's account.

Operation at Bafra Municipality

The Bafra Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an ex officio investigation on July 7, 2024, regarding allegations of 'embezzlement' at the Yakıntaş Cemetery, which belongs to the Bafra Municipality. Within the scope of the investigation, the inquiry was conducted by the Samsun police in accordance with the instructions of the Bafra Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

During the investigation, based on bank account transfers, criminal communications, witness statements, and a report prepared by the Bafra Mayor's Office, it was determined that individuals identified as Yasin Ş., Fikret Ş., İ.K., H.A., and E.Ş., who were employed by the municipality, "issued receipts for grave site fees collected in cash at the cemetery between 2015 and 2024, but did not deposit the money received into the municipality's account."

The 5 suspects detained in the operation were brought to the Bafra Courthouse today. Suspects Fikret Ş. and Yasin Ş. were referred to the Criminal Judgeship of Peace with a request for arrest, while E.Ş., H.A., and İ.A. were referred with a request for judicial control. In accordance with the requests, the judgeship ordered the arrest of Fikret Ş. and Yasin Ş., and imposed judicial control measures on E.Ş., H.A., and İ.A. The arrested individuals were delivered to the Bafra T-Type Closed Prison.
