Operation spanning 31 countries... 197 fugitives extradited to Turkey

Sharing the results of efforts to extradite criminals who fled abroad to Turkey, Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced that a total of 197 people from 31 different countries were brought to Turkey in the first half of 2026. In a statement made on the social media platform X, Gürlek reported that the individuals whose extradition was secured have been handed over to judicial authorities.

197 PEOPLE EXTRADITED TO TURKEY

In his post, Minister Gürlek stated, "In the first half of 2026, in line with our requests regarding common crimes and terrorism-related offenses, the extradition of a total of 197 individuals from 31 different countries to our country has been carried out. And these individuals have been delivered to justice."

Sending a message to those who commit crimes and flee abroad, Gürlek stated that those who think they can commit crimes and escape justice will not be able to feel safe no matter where they go in the world. He expressed that the Ministry of Justice will follow the extradition processes of fugitives much more strictly, uncompromisingly, and moment-by-moment.

MOST EXTRADITIONS FROM GEORGIA AND GERMANY

According to the data shared by Gürlek, of the 197 people extradited to Turkey;

85 were brought from Georgia,

52 from Germany,

9 from Greece,

8 from Montenegro,

6 from Bulgaria,

3 from the Netherlands,

3 from Kyrgyzstan.

In addition, two people each were extradited to Turkey from Croatia, Iraq, the United Kingdom, Italy, Kazakhstan, North Macedonia, and Poland.

One person each was extradited to Turkey from Argentina, Albania, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Armenia, France, Colombia, Kosovo, Hungary, Moldova, Portugal, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, and Ukraine.
