Operation targeting İzmir Metropolitan Municipality: Requested sentences in İZBETON investigation announced
In the indictments prepared as part of the investigation into İZBETON, a subsidiary of the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, prison sentences ranging from 3 to 14 years are being requested for the defendants.
The investigation conducted by the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into İZBETON has been completed, and a lawsuit has been filed with two separate indictments. In the indictments, prison sentences ranging from 3 to 14 years are being requested for 44 individuals, 20 of whom are under arrest, including former İZBETON General Manager Heval Savaş Kaya, on charges of rigging tenders for asphalt paving, road construction, and maintenance and repair works on transportation routes in İzmir.
Furthermore, prison sentences ranging from 3 years to 12 years and 3 months have been requested for 56 individuals, 30 of whom are under arrest, including former İZBETON General Manager Heval Savaş Kaya, Buca Deputy Mayor Engin Güzel, and Bayraklı Deputy Mayor Mehmet Mert Hanifi Yılmaz, on charges of rigging the performance of obligations in construction machinery and vehicle rental service procurement tenders held in 2023 and 2024.
COOPERATIVE INVESTIGATION CONTINUES
In addition, it was reported that the investigation into cooperatives, in which the names of former İzmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer and CHP İzmir Provincial Chair Şenol Aslanoğlu are mentioned, is still ongoing.
