Opposition parties' group proposals rejected in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey

Group proposals regarding the agenda submitted by the CHP, DEM Party, IYI Party, and the Felicity Party were not accepted in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) General Assembly.

In the General Assembly, group proposals submitted by the Felicity Party on "The negative effects of coal mining on environmental health," the IYI Party on "The functioning of the judicial process in hearings," the DEM Party on "Syria Policy," and the CHP on "Boğaziçi University" were discussed separately.

Taking the floor on his party's group proposal, Felicity Party Bursa Deputy Mehmet Atmaca stated that Turkey's inadequacies in environmental policies and natural resource management have compounded the negative effects of coal mines on the environment.

Expressing that there are attempts to open a coal mine in the Gölbaşı district of Ankara, Atmaca said, "The coal mine project planned to be initiated in the district's Kırıklı neighborhood is practically dragging the region's ecosystem and the life of the local community into disaster. The Governor's Office's decision that an EIA report is not required for this project completely ignores the potential negative effects of the project on the environment and health."

Atmaca emphasized that compliance with international standards must be ensured and policies protecting the environment and human health must be adopted.

AKP Zonguldak Deputy Saffet Bozkurt stated that thanks to modern technologies used in coal mining operations, air pollution and emissions have been significantly reduced, and explained that measures in accordance with international standards are taken for the health and safety of mine workers and that they are regularly inspected.

Underlining that what is extracted is not just a piece of coal but a symbol of Turkey's international power, Bozkurt said, "A Turkey that is fully independent in energy also means a strong Turkey. For this reason, we are working with all our might for R&D capabilities, technology, and innovation moves where we will blend the sweat and labor of our miners with intellectual effort."

IYI Party Bursa Deputy Yüksel Selçuk Türkoğlu delivered his speech by placing a photograph of Sinan Ateş on the podium.

Noting that the delay or stalling of the preparation of indictments and the meaningful scenes observed in the hearings create concerns regarding the realization of justice, which is the rightful expectation of the public conscience, Türkoğlu said, "The case of the assassination of Sinan Ateş, which was committed in broad daylight in the middle of Ankara, the capital where the Republic of Turkey is governed, is just such a case."

DEM Party Şırnak Deputy Ayşegül Doğan said that the question "What is Turkey looking for in Syria this time?" is a question everyone is curious about.

Stating that the relations to be established with Syria should be open and transparent, Doğan said, "If an alternative option is chosen, we will continue to struggle for a fair and democratic future, including with neighboring countries, today and tomorrow, just as we did yesterday."

"WE WILL NOT ALLOW A TERROR CORRIDOR TO BE ESTABLISHED"

AKP Group Deputy Chairman Abdulhamit Gül responded to the question by DEM Party Şırnak Deputy Doğan, "What is Turkey looking for in Syria, what is its business there?" by saying, "Instead of this question, the right question is: 'What are those who come from thousands of kilometers away and want to establish a terror corridor right next to our country doing in Syria?'"

Underlining that Turkey does not have an attitude of interfering in Syria's internal affairs or its unitary structure, Gül said, "It is important for us that Syria protects its own unity and togetherness. A fire that breaks out in a neighbor's house can also spread to yours."

Reminding that President Erdoğan had conveyed all the problems of the Kurds living in Syria, especially their passport issues, to the Head of State of the period, Gül said, "In Syria, in Iraq, in Iran, wherever it may be, in every issue where Kurds live; in all issues of Turkmens, Arabs, Chaldeans, and Christians, regardless of their race, we have stood by them, and we will stand by them in all their struggles, but we will also stand against terror; we have not allowed and will not allow a terror corridor to be established in the south of Turkey."

AKP Şanlıurfa Deputy Abdulkadir Emin Önen used the expressions "Written entirely with a perspective parallel to the policies of Qandil, voicing the claims and wishes of Qandil..." for the group proposal submitted by the DEM Party on "The investigation of the problems caused by Turkey's wrong Syria policy and the ways to solve them."

Stating that Turkey has disrupted the dirty games played on its border through terrorist organizations and has succeeded in distancing not only the PKK-PYD but also the USA, which provides tons of weapons aid to the terrorist organization and fattens them, from its borders, Önen said, "The effect of the determined and coercive diplomacy implemented by our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is great in this success. The separatist organization draws strength from the instability in the Syrian field and tries to develop its operational capability in this environment by not refraining from cooperating with other terrorist organizations."

Önen noted the following:

"The DEM Party, which shows for terrorists the sensitivity it does not show while the PKK massacres our soldiers, civilian citizens, and innocent people; is a party that slanders by calling the Operation Peace Spring an 'occupation,' the fight against terror a 'war,' the PKK 'Kurds,' and the Syrian National Army, which fights for their homeland in front of the Turkish Armed Forces, 'DAESH.' Therefore, no one can convince us that it cares about human rights in Syria or the economic reflections of the war on Turkey."

In the votes held after the discussions, the group proposals regarding the agenda submitted by the CHP, DEM Party, IYI Party, and the Felicity Party were not accepted.

Afterwards, the discussions on the articles in the 1st section of the Teaching Profession Law Proposal were moved to.
