Orange code warning from Meteorology... Heavy rain and storms expected

The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued an 'orange code' warning for the inland parts of Trabzon and Rize, as well as the west of Artvin. Very heavy rainfall will be effective in these regions. Additionally, sudden downpours and storms are expected in the northern districts of Istanbul, between Karaburun and Şile. Therefore, citizens need to be cautious.

SUDDEN DOWNPOURS AND THUNDERSTORMS IN ISTANBUL

In Istanbul, scattered downpours will be effective today in the northern districts located on the Karaburun - Şile line. These rains may be accompanied by thunder. While the rainfall will continue intermittently throughout the day, a strong storm will also show its effect on the Marmara coasts.

STORM COMING FROM THE BALKANS IS SPREADING RAPIDLY

The cold air wave coming from the Balkans will be effective today in many regions of Turkey, especially in the Marmara region. Strong winds and storms are expected, particularly in the northern parts of Marmara, the east of Central Anatolia, and the west of Eastern Anatolia. The speed of these winds will be between 30-60 km/h.

WHAT WILL THE WEATHER BE LIKE TODAY?

The weather will be partly cloudy in the northern, inner, and western parts of our country. Local downpours and thunderstorms are expected in the east of Marmara, the Inner Aegean, the inland parts of the Western Black Sea, some regions of the Central and Eastern Black Sea, and the east of Kırklareli and Tekirdağ. In other regions, the weather will generally be clear and slightly cloudy. Air temperatures are expected to remain above seasonal norms.

NORTHERLY WINDS WILL BE EFFECTIVE

Meteorology stated that the winds blowing from the north will be strong in Marmara, the North Aegean coasts, and the east of Central Anatolia. Furthermore, it is estimated that the wind speed in the west of Eastern Anatolia will be between 30-60 km/h. Therefore, a call has been made for sailors and citizens working in open areas to be careful.

In the regions where an orange code warning has been issued, especially in the inland parts of Trabzon and Rize and the west of Artvin, very heavy rainfall is expected.
