Özel addresses Erdoğan in Bahçeli's hometown! Striking claim on the anniversary of February 6

Addressing citizens in Osmaniye, the hometown of MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel stated regarding the February 6 earthquakes that the Turkish Armed Forces were not deployed to the field for three days. He claimed that this decision was justified by a consultant at the Palace with the words, "It is easy to take the army out of the barracks, but it is difficult to put them back in."

Özel addresses Erdoğan in Bahçeli's hometown! Striking claim on the anniversary of February 6

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel made evaluations regarding the current agenda during his visit to his party's Provincial Headquarters in Osmaniye.

Speaking to members of the press after the visit, Özel recalled the losses experienced in Osmaniye in the third year of the February 6 earthquakes.

"40 BILLION DOLLARS IN EARTHQUAKE TAXES COLLECTED IN 21 YEARS"

Emphasizing that the disaster occurred during the term of an administration that has been in power for a long time, Özel stated, "We did not face this disaster with a government that had just come to power. If that were the case, there might have been excuses for some things. The government of that day had been in power for 21 years. It was in power alone, without excuses. The government of that day had collected 3 trillion dollars in taxes in 23 years. It had collected 40 billion dollars in earthquake taxes in 21 years."

Stating that taxes were also collected through eight separate zoning amnesties, Özel said, "In a way that can never be accepted, it caught both our Osmaniye and our 10 beautiful cities unprepared."

"A CONSULTANT AT THE PALACE SAID..."

Expressing that the Turkish Armed Forces were not deployed to the field for three days during the earthquake process, Özel said, "A consultant at the Palace said, 'It is easy to take the army out of the barracks, but it is difficult to put them back in.' You have been in power for 21 years. The army should be ready with its trucks, shovels, and brave sons, but you are afraid that if they come out, they will stage a coup. Shame on you," he said.

"HE DESCRIBES WHAT WAS DONE WITH THE STATE'S MONEY AS IF IT WERE HIS OWN WORK"

Criticizing the government for boasting about earthquake housing, Özel stated, "May God be pleased with everyone from the foundation to the roof of those earthquake houses. As if he built the earthquake housing out of his own pocket... As if he had built them on time with the taxes collected for years and the houses he built had not collapsed... He describes what was built in place of the destroyed ones, with the nation's money and the state's money, as if it were his own work."

"WE SAW THE RED CRESCENT SELLING TENTS..."

The following words were included in Özel's statements:

"We experienced such pain that it cannot be forgotten. A disaster victim whose house was destroyed in the earthquake, holding a cell phone with a battery about to die... They sent an IBAN to the phone of that earthquake victim who was clinging to life with that cell phone. If you want to help earthquake victims, they sent an IBAN to those under the rubble, saying send money to this number. There was cold, there was rain, there were no tents. We saw the Red Crescent selling tents.

This government is a government that did not make preparations despite all the resources before the earthquake, did not act for three days during the earthquake, and did not carry out recovery activities after the earthquake. As soon as I heard about the earthquake, as a group deputy chairman, I am a brother of yours who made a call to Adana's old airport, because the runways of Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, and Hatay were destroyed that day, who distributed them according to the provinces, who distributed them to the whole region 12 hours after the earthquake, and who came to the earthquake zone on the first evening, did not sleep, did not drink water, and stayed in the earthquake zone for 45 days. We did not make politics out of the earthquake.

Today, the Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality was in Hatay after the earthquake. Mr. Mansur Yavaş was in Kahramanmaraş the day after the earthquake and was there throughout the whole process. The deputy of the Mayor of Antalya, who is in prison today, is here. The then-Mayor of Eskişehir, Yılmaz Büyükerşen, was responsible for Osmaniye during the earthquake. We never talked about these. Until when? Until Tayyip Erdoğan came out and said, 'You were not in the earthquake zone, you did not lend a hand to any work.' He asked me the other day, 'Where were you after the earthquake?'"

"ERDOĞAN, PERHAPS YOU WILL BE ASHAMED OF THE LIE YOU TOLD..."

Özel continued his speech with the following expressions:

"Erdoğan has visited the earthquake provinces a total of 38 times since the earthquake. Özgür Özel, as group deputy chairman, went 26 times, and 23 times after becoming chairman, a total of 49 times; today is the 50th. If Mr. Erdoğan says two times two is four, turn around and check it. Whenever he makes a claim, I turn around and check it. With all the means of the state... Two of the 10 most valuable official vehicles in the world are his. There are 13 planes, all helicopters are at his command. The Gendarmerie is at his command, the police are at his command.

Erdoğan, who has come to the earthquake zone 38 times in three years, here I am for the 50th time, perhaps you will be ashamed of the lie you told. My duty is to speak on behalf of the nation, to warn... Your duty was to prepare for the earthquake, to remove the rubble, to mobilize the army. You did not do these duties, now you have turned around and are boasting about the earthquake houses you built."
