Özel reacts to 'arrest' decision following Israel protest
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel reacted to the arrest of group members who protested against Israel, addressing AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan in a statement on his social media account.
During Erdoğan's live broadcast, a group stood up and voiced their criticism regarding the AKP's continued trade with Israel. These group members were arrested after their detention periods expired.
CHP Chairman Özel reacted to the arrests with the following words:
"The decision to arrest 9 young people who protested Tayyip Erdoğan proves the dire situation our country's democracy has fallen into. These young people, who were exercising their right to expression, must be released.
I promise here that under the administration of our next President, no one who exercises their right to protest will be arrested, and all obstacles to freedom of expression will be removed."
