Özgür Çelik did the math: A People's Alliance member voted for CHP in the deputy mayor election
The election for the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Deputy Mayor was held today. The CHP group's candidate, Nuri Aslan, was elected IMM Deputy Mayor with 177 votes. The AKP group's candidate, Zeynel Abidin, received 125 votes. According to the calculations of CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik, one People's Alliance council member voted for the CHP.
Ekrem İmamoğlu was detained on March 18 as part of an operation targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, one day after his diploma from Istanbul University was revoked.
Following the decision to arrest him, İmamoğlu was also removed from his position as IMM Mayor.
WHO IS THAT PERSON?
Following İmamoğlu's removal from office, the election for IMM Deputy Mayor was held today. Although the CHP's candidate Nuri Aslan won the election, the most talked-about aspect of the event was the data announced by CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik. The information shared by Çelik on social media is as follows:
"I would like to thank the 174 CHP and 2 independent council members who voted for Nuri Aslan in unity during today's IMM Deputy Mayor election.
I would also like to thank the People's Alliance council member who could not stomach the injustice during the month of Ramadan and proved that there are conscientious people among them, even if it is just one person."
Bugün yapılan İBB Başkan Vekilliği seçiminde birlik içerisinde Nuri Aslan’a oy veren 174 CHP, 2 bağımsız meclis üyesine teşekkür ederim.
