Former Prime Minister Çiller, while attending an event, openly expressed her support for the People's Alliance's Istanbul mayoral candidate, Murat Kurum, stating, "Murat Kurum is coming to Istanbul with excitement. I believe Istanbul was looking for this excitement."

İMAMOĞLU'S DIG AT ÇİLLER OVER KURUM

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor İmamoğlu, regarding Çiller's statement of support, said, "She is skilled at ruining the economy. She is someone who made us experience triple-digit inflation and high interest rates in the mid-90s, just like today. The lady said, 'My support is for Mr. Kurum.' She claims he would solve urban transformation! I know why she is supporting him. She is supporting him because he granted a sweet deal of zoning for her 13,000-square-meter plot of land."

İmamoğlu continued as follows:

"She insistently pushed for zoning on her own 13,000-square-meter land in Sarıyer, and we insistently filed lawsuits and had it cancelled. Why would she support me! She knows where to give her support. He caused her to gain rent, while I am working to ensure my nation gains. That is the difference."

‘ÇİLLER’ COMMENT FROM ÖZGÜR DEMİRTAŞ

While Çiller's statements continue to be discussed on the political agenda, a comment on the matter also came from economist Prof. Dr. Özgür Demirtaş.

Demirtaş commented on his social media account regarding Çiller, stating, "The 2nd worst economic manager to ever come to Turkey..."
