Özgür Özel had also reacted: Second apology from Kırıkkanat following Kılıçdaroğlu post

Journalist and author Mine Gökçe Kırıkkanat sparked public debate due to a post she made on her social media account. Kırıkkanat published an apology text following the expressions she used regarding former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu in her post.

In her column, Kırıkkanat addressed the post in question and described the expression she used as a "mistake." Stating that the words in her post led to misunderstandings, the author made an assessment regarding the reactions that emerged in the public sphere.

"I DID NOT KNOW THE HISTORICAL MEANING OF THE EXPRESSION"

Kırıkkanat stated that while she intended to criticize Kılıçdaroğlu over his stance during the process of abolishing the Student Oath, she did not know that the expression she used, by referencing his surname, had a historical background. Stating that she deleted the post shortly after receiving warnings, Kırıkkanat emphasized that this situation was a mistake that concerned only her.

Kırıkkanat expressed that following the post in question, criticisms directed both at her and the newspaper that publishes her articles had increased. She stated that the process had turned into a debate beyond her mistake.

"I HAVE RESPECT FOR ALEVI CULTURE"

Emphasizing the respect she has for Alevism, Kırıkkanat reminded that she had previously conducted numerous studies on this faith and culture. Stating that there are also Alevi individuals in her family circle, the author expressed that she has never engaged in faith-based discrimination. Nevertheless, acknowledging that her post created a wrong impression, she apologized to her readers and the newspaper staff.

ÖZGÜR ÖZEL HAD REACTED HARSHLY

CHP leader Özgür Özel had reacted to Kırıkkanat's 'sword remnant' (kılıç artığı) remarks. In a post on his X account, without naming Kırıkkanat, Özel referred to her as a 'so-called author' and used the following expressions:

"A so-called author, whose every kind of insult directed at me I have patiently remained silent about for years, has this time insolently attacked Mr. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. The legal rights of our former Chairman are, first and foremost, entrusted to me. I CONDEMN it in one word."
