Özgür Özel reacts to banner investigation: 'Just wait and see where else we will hang them'

Participating in the Public Run held in Kadıköy this morning, Özgür Özel responded to journalists' questions regarding the investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office over the banner incident by saying, "They can only burn as much as their size! Just wait and see where else we will hang them. Mayor Ekrem is everywhere."

Stating, "You cannot imprison those who run after Atatürk," Özgür Özel used the following expressions:

"I ran it in 59 minutes. This is the pace at which I run the marathon. I already run 6-7 kilometers every day. I used to be able to run outdoors more, now I use the treadmill more. I definitely exercise at least once every day.

Our bib number is 1923; we will gift this to Mayor Ekrem during our first visit. We will sign the back in memory of today. Mayor Ekrem, I, and the entire team are actually running after one person; we are running after Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who started the republic run. You cannot imprison those who run after Atatürk."

Ekrem İmamoğlu’s republic run, his run for power, continues. There is a coup period in the country; this is a coup against the future. The Socialist International meeting is ongoing, and everyone there also acknowledges that a coup is being carried out against Turkey's future. We will overcome this coup, and next year we will run these marathons together with Mayor Ekrem."
