The treatment of Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and DEM Party Istanbul MP Sırrı Süreyya Önder continues in the intensive care unit following his surgery.
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel visited Önder and received information about his condition from officials. Speaking in front of the hospital after the visit, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel said, "We are all closely following Sırrı Süreyya Önder's health status. Today, we came once again and received information about his health status from our chief physician, the hospital administration, and the executives of the DEM Party. The information we received is within the framework of the institutional statement made by the hospital yesterday. We have conveyed our best wishes."
Özel continued as follows:
"There is a lifetime spent in the struggle for peace, tranquility, and brotherhood in Turkey. Perhaps he had taken on a very important task on the eve of a process where the fruits of this struggle would finally be reaped, weapons would fall silent, terrorism would end, and mothers' tears would dry. His beautiful heart was a little strained by this tempo. Everyone in Turkey is praying. We hope that these prayers will be answered and that he will regain his health. We once again convey our best sentiments to his family, all his loved ones, and our entire public."
