Özgür Özel delivers 'we will win' message at 102nd anniversary event

In his speech, Özel said, "Last year, we defined the period between September 4-9 as the CHP's Change Congress, and we worked on our party charter together in the most democratic way possible, enriching it with all suggestions.

An important article of this was incorporating into our charter that the period between September 4-9 would be celebrated as Foundation Week. This year, for the first time, we started our foundation week, which our charter requires, on September 4, with the main theme being the renewal of the CHP's party program and its transformation into a government program. So far, this building has hosted 650 academics, scientists, and experts one day; 250 young guests from all over Turkey with completely different thoughts, ideas, opinions, and affiliations another day; and the Representative Assembly of our entire organization on another. From the very first moment, with exhibitions, events, and concert programs in various parts of Ankara, despite it being the first year and unfortunately the conditions in politics being very difficult, we have reached this point with great participation and the incredible effort and dedication of each one of you," he stated.

CHP Chairman Özel thanked the Central Executive Board (MYK) members, Party Assembly (PM) members, Women's Branch members, and Youth Branch members who contributed to these events, and noted the following:

"This is a very important place. You know, we pulled that red bus here on March 31, 2024. We climbed onto it. That day, something happened that hadn't happened in previous years. CHP reporters would move over here and say, ‘Preparations at the CHP building are finished, the administrators are slowly leaving, the lights are off,’ and there were no balcony speech preparations at the AK Party building on the other side of the screen. On the night of March 31, the bus came here, and AK Party reporters were announcing, ‘The sound system here is being dismantled, we are connecting to the front of the Republican People's Party.’

My dear former Chairmen, we have all served at many levels of the party. Today, we went to Taksim to lay a wreath with a group of 35 people. After what happened yesterday, that place became 5,000 people, 10,000 people; Taksim was full. I said to our Provincial Chairman next to me, ‘Neither you nor I are doing the most important, most critical, and most difficult task in this party. It is this party member, this organization, who feels this inside and has been waiting for us in Taksim Square under this sun for hours.’ Health to the efforts of all of them, all of us.

"SOONER OR LATER, DARKNESS LOSES, LIGHT WINS"

I salute with respect the Republican People's Party organization, which draws wood to the family hearth, keeps the chimney smoking, brews its tea, boils its soup, and has kept the family hearth alive for 102 years. That organization is not the one that sends a message to the ballot box officials every election night when they go to their duties with a thousand hopes, saying, ‘Do not believe the news coming in, do not lose your morale, do not leave the ballot boxes,’ but rather, you will receive that message you received on March 31 again in the next election. That message said on March 31; ‘Soon you will receive beautiful news from all over Turkey. For heaven's sake, do not leave the ballot box, do not leave there without getting the wet-signed report.’ We are now in days where we think, plan, and take precautions so that sadness, trouble, and worry do not hinder our duty; rather, joy, excitement, and celebration should not hinder our duty.

There is no more losing. We left losing far in the past. Everything that happens to us today is because of this. It is because we won. They are trying to make us bow our heads because they cannot cope; we will not bow our heads, we will succeed. We will win. I promise, no matter what they do, no matter how much evil they do, in the end, goodness wins. Sooner or later, darkness loses, light wins. The sun wins. Happiness wins. Good people win. That is why we will win. And I promise you. On the night of the first election to be held here, these lights will continue to burn until morning. An era will close in Turkey. A new era will open. The two great works of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk will meet. The Republican People's Party will govern the Republic of Turkey.

"PROTECT YOUR HOPE, PROTECT YOUR FAITH"

To all the chairmen who called by phone and sent messages throughout the week to celebrate our foundation week, to the old and new administrators from all political parties, to all the democrats of Turkey with whom we grow our hope together, I say to everyone who looks at us, who looks into our eyes, to save Turkey from this regime of oppression and persecution, so that everyone in this country can look to the future with hope, so that they can be fed, so that they can protect the Republic itself: Protect your hope, protect your faith, the Republican People's Party is Turkey's first party, the ruling party of tomorrow, it will make you smile. Happy new year to us."
