Özgür Özel's proposal to Kılıçdaroğlu revealed! 'I called Kemal Bey, he didn't return it...'

While the ongoing convention debates and internal party crisis within the CHP maintain their place on the agenda, former Deputy Prime Minister and SHP Chairman Murat Karayalçın made evaluations regarding the process.

Speaking to İklim Öngel from Cumhuriyet newspaper, Karayalçın shared with the public a proposal that came up during a phone conversation between Özgür Özel and Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.

"LET'S BOTH STEP DOWN" PROPOSAL

According to the information conveyed by Karayalçın, during the meeting held on May 23, Özgür Özel presented a different formula to Kılıçdaroğlu in order to overcome the tension within the party. It was claimed that during the meeting, Özel said, "Let's both step down, and let Murat Karayalçın manage the party as our former chairman and elder until the convention."

Karayalçın stated that he was not aware of this proposal at that time.

"I CALLED BUT HE DID NOT RETURN THE CALL"

Explaining that he tried to establish communication with Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu during the same period, Karayalçın described the process he experienced with these words:

"I called Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu on the day the Headquarters was entered by the police, but he did not return the call. I was very sad, of course. I had called Kemal Bey without knowing about Özel's proposal; perhaps he associated it with that, but in the end, it did not happen."

"WE EXPERIENCED A POLITICAL USURPATION"

Arguing that the process experienced within the party could be overcome, Karayalçın stated that one should remain in the CHP and that the search for solutions should continue.

Karayalçın said, "We experienced a political usurpation. The duties and powers of the CHP Chairman and elected officials were taken from them with this usurpation. We were pushed into a pit, a trap was set. I am of the opinion that it is necessary to continue to remain in the party. All paths may be blocked. It is necessary to resist until the point where every party member and every voter can say, 'Everything has been done, there is no solution left.'"
