Pamukçu, who resigned from YRP: 'There is an attitude of seeking revenge against the President'

Objections are rising from within the ranks of the New Welfare Party (YRP) against its leader, Fatih Erbakan, who has fielded candidates in many regions, particularly in Istanbul and Ankara.

Suat Pamukçu, the secretary-general of the New Welfare Party and a member of parliament for Istanbul, announced on February 20 that he had resigned from the New Welfare Party, which he helped found, on the grounds that it was no longer adhering to its founding principles.

Following this resignation, Pamukçu joined the AKP, and his party pin was attached by AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at an Istanbul rally.

While the image sparked reactions from YRP members, Pamukçu made statements regarding the current agenda on the Medya Kritik program on TGRT Haber.

"THERE IS AN ATTITUDE OF SEEKING REVENGE AGAINST THE PRESIDENT"

Responding to journalist Cem Küçük's question, "You said that FETÖ members or that mentality are dominant in critical positions within the New Welfare Party; who were you referring to?" Pamukçu said:

"I spoke in terms of a mentality, not individuals. There is something about FETÖ members; it is as if there is an attitude of seeking revenge for the past against the President. There is an attitude of seeking revenge. I said it partly in relation to that.

This does not align with the politics or identity of Erbakan Hoca. I do not find it right."
