'Payments will be made' was promised, statement came from mine workers

The protest initiated by workers at Doruk Madencilik, which is under Yıldızlar SSS Holding, has reached its 16th day. The workers have been continuing their hunger strike for 9 days to demand their rights.

Speaking to pro-government Hürriyet columnist Ahmet Hakan, Minister of Interior Mustafa Çiftçi stated that the remaining portion of the workers' receivables would be deposited in the morning hours.

"WE HAVE NOT SEEN A CONCRETE STEP"

In a statement made by the Independent Mine Workers Union (Bağımsız Maden İş), it was stated that the process is ongoing but no results have been achieved yet.

The statement included the following: "Our protest and negotiations are continuing. Statements were made by the ministry that a solution would be provided today, but we have not seen a concrete step so far."

DEMANDS LISTED IN 6 POINTS

The miners on hunger strike have gathered their demands under 6 headings. The workers' demands are as follows:

-Payment of wage receivables that have not been paid for months,

-Payment of severance rights to all workers who were unfairly dismissed before and after the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) takeover,

-Abolition of the unpaid leave practice imposed on currently employed workers without their consent,

-Establishment of a safe working environment in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety (İSİG) rules,

-Reinstatement of workers who were dismissed for being members of our union and leading the struggle,

-Nationalization of the mine to ensure job security.
