The Istanbul Governor's Office has taken a new step in the fight against behaviors that cause noise pollution across the city. In a statement released by the Governor's Office, it was reported that recent complaints regarding citizens disturbing the environment with personal music devices in public transport vehicles, bus stops, beaches, coastal areas, and similar public spaces have been evaluated.

ADMINISTRATIVE FINES WILL BE IMPOSED

The statement highlighted the seriousness of the situation, noting: “It has been understood from complaints reaching our Governor's Office that recently, noise is being made in a way that disturbs the environment with personal music broadcasting devices in public transport vehicles where people travel together, at bus stops, on beaches, in coastal areas, in picnic areas, and in public areas where people congregate.”

MISDEMEANORS LAW ACTIVATED

The Governor's Office announced that individuals causing noise will be penalized under Article 36 of the Misdemeanors Law No. 5326. According to this article, administrative fines will be issued to those who cause disturbing noise in public spaces.

INSPECTIONS TO BE INCREASED

The statement continued by emphasizing that inspections will be tightened, stating: “Administrative fines will be imposed in accordance with Article 36 of the Misdemeanors Law No. 5326 on individuals who disturb the environment by creating noise with personal music broadcasting devices in squares, open areas where the public is densely present, public transport vehicles, bus stops, and on coasts and beaches.”

The Governor's Office announced that District Governorates, local governments, general law enforcement agencies, and municipal police teams will work in coordination to ensure the effective implementation of this measure.
