Perfume filling facility that caused the death of 7 people in Kocaeli is being demolished

In the fire that broke out at the facility located in Mimar Sinan Neighborhood on November 8 at around 09:00, Şengül Yılmaz (55), Tuğba Taşdemir (18), Nisa Taşdemir (17), Cansu Esatoğlu (16), Esma Gikan, Hanım Gülek (52), and shift supervisor Tuncay Yıldız lost their lives, while 6 people were injured.

The preliminary report prepared regarding the fire stated that during the perfume production process at the facility, ignition occurred as a result of static electricity discharge or electrical contact during the transfer of ethyl alcohol to the boiler, which triggered an explosion and subsequent fire.

DEMOLITION WORK HAS BEGUN

Following the completion of the investigations, work began to demolish the perfume filling facility. The demolition, which started 12 days later, is being carried out under security measures.

7 OUT OF 11 SUSPECTS ARRESTED

Regarding the tragedy, 11 suspects were detained by the teams of the Public Security Branch Directorate Murder Bureau on charges of "intentional killing, intentional injury, damage to property, negligent homicide, and concealing, destroying, or altering evidence of a crime." A total of 7 people, including the owner of the facility and his son, were arrested, while 4 were released under judicial control conditions. Additionally, Dilovası Municipality Deputy Mayor Necati Temiz, Municipal Police Chief Nizamettin Balcı, and municipal police officers Cengiz Taşdemir, Tekin İlaslan, and Ömer Kocabay were suspended by the Dilovası Municipality.
