PKK and ISIS operation in Mersin: 5 detained

Mersin Provincial Gendarmerie Command teams conducted operations targeting terrorist organizations.

In their work targeting the terrorist organization ISIS, gendarmerie teams identified 2 suspects, one of whom was a so-called Sharia Judge.

Operations were carried out at 2 separate addresses in Mersin and Antalya to apprehend the identified organization members. Both suspects were captured in the operation.

Continuing their efforts, the gendarmerie teams also identified suspects who are members of the terrorist organization PKK and engaged in propaganda for it.

Operations were organized to apprehend 1 suspect who made 'provocative' social media posts regarding soldiers martyred in the Operation Claw-Lock region, as well as 2 suspects determined to have previously carried out armed activities on behalf of the terrorist organization. In simultaneous operations conducted in Mersin and Adana, 3 suspects were captured and taken into custody.

In both operations, teams seized a large number of materials and documents. The 5 suspects detained in the operations against the terrorist organizations were taken to the gendarmerie station.
