PKK inmate sets fire to cell in Trabzon
A PKK inmate held at Beşikdüzü Prison started a fire in their cell. One inmate and three prison staff were affected by smoke in the incident.
A fire that broke out around noon today at the Beşikdüzü T-Type Closed Prison in the Beşikdüzü district of Trabzon caused panic. According to information obtained, an inmate identified as a member of the terrorist organization PKK started a fire in their cell for reasons yet unknown.
While the flames quickly caused smoke to spread throughout the ward, prison staff intervened rapidly. A total of 4 people, including 1 inmate and 3 prison staff, were affected by smoke from the fire.

THEY WERE TAKEN TO VAKFIKEBİR STATE HOSPITAL
Following the incident, the inmate and prison staff affected by the smoke were transferred to Vakfıkebir State Hospital as a precaution. It was learned that after medical examinations, all 4 individuals were in good health and were not in life-threatening condition.
While security measures were increased at the prison following the fire, an investigation into the incident has been launched.
