Plunder decision in the Official Gazette: Lands suitable for development removed from forest status

With the Presidential Decree No. 3413 published in the January 7, 2021 issue of the Official Gazette, the 'Regulation on Procedures for Removal from Forest Status' was put into effect within the scope of Article 16 of the Forest Law No. 6831.

According to the regulation, areas whose boundaries are to be determined by the President, which are deemed to have no benefit in being preserved as forests by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in terms of science and technology, which cannot be converted into agricultural land, which contain settlements, or which are rocky, stony, unproductive, and do not actually possess forest characteristics and are suitable for the creation of settlements, may be removed from forest boundaries.

DECISION COVERING 13 PROVINCES

According to the Presidential Decree published in the January 18, 2024 issue of the Official Gazette, it was stated that millions of square meters of forest land in 13 provinces, including Bursa, Eskişehir, Elazığ, Bingöl, Sinop, Kastamonu, Kütahya, Muğla, and Zonguldak, have been removed from forest status.
