Police officer who drew a weapon during an argument in Etimesgut suspended
An administrative investigation has been launched and a police officer has been suspended after they threatened others with a weapon following a traffic dispute in the Etimesgut district of Ankara.
In an incident that occurred at night in the Süvari neighborhood of Etimesgut, Ankara, two drivers who encountered each other on İsmet İnönü Street got into an altercation over right-of-way. As tensions rose, one of the parties exited their vehicle and walked toward the other group while holding a handgun and a stick. Those moments were captured second-by-second on the mobile phone cameras of nearby citizens. In the footage, the person holding the weapon can be heard shouting, "I am a police officer anyway."
Police teams dispatched to the area upon receiving reports intervened in the incident immediately. The individual who brandished the weapon was taken into a patrol vehicle at the scene and brought to the police station. In a statement released by the Ankara Police Department, it was stated: "A judicial and administrative investigation has been launched regarding the incident that occurred in the Etimesgut district on June 13, 2026, in which a police officer was involved. The personnel in question has been suspended from duty, and the matter is being meticulously examined in all its aspects."
