Police Special Operations conducted an operation: 7-year-old child held hostage by his father in Ankara rescued
A 7-year-old child held hostage by his father with a gun in Ankara was rescued after 12 hours following an operation.
In an incident that took place on the 2nd floor of a 5-story building on Fidan Street in the Cumhuriyet neighborhood of Ankara's Çubuk district, H.V. (35), who allegedly suffers from psychological issues and is a substance abuser, held his son M.E.V. hostage with a gun, refusing to hand him over to his ex-wife S.Y., who had been granted custody two weeks ago.
Following a report by S.Y. around 18:00, Police Special Operations (PÖH) teams, firefighters, and 112 Emergency Health teams were dispatched to the address where H.V. resided.
After H.V. responded negatively to 12 hours of persuasion efforts, the PÖH teams waiting on-site launched an operation to rescue M.E.V. H.V., who responded to the teams with gunfire, was neutralized after being shot in the shoulder and leg.

The rescued M.E.V. was taken to Çubuk State Hospital by 112 Emergency Health teams as a precaution, while the injured H.V. was transported to the hospital after receiving initial intervention from medical teams at the scene.
An investigation into the incident has been launched.
