Polls are open: By-election day in 3 provinces

Voters in six towns across three provinces in Turkey, as well as in various neighborhoods, are heading to the polls today for local by-elections. Voting began at 08:00 this morning.

TOWNS HOLDING ELECTIONS ANNOUNCED

As part of the local by-elections, polls have been set up in the towns of Yolüstü and Çevrecik in the Reşadiye district of Tokat, the town of Bağtaşı in the Almus district, and the town of Kuşçu in the Yeşilyurt district.

In addition, voters are casting ballots in the town of Tekke in the Gümüşhane city center and the town of Mustafapaşa in the Ürgüp district of Nevşehir. Furthermore, elections for neighborhood heads (muhtars) and councils of elders are being held in 362 neighborhoods across Turkey.

MAYORS AND COUNCIL MEMBERS TO BE ELECTED

Following the elections, mayors and municipal council members will be determined in the six towns. In the neighborhoods, votes are being cast for muhtars and members of the council of elders.

Voting will conclude at 17:00. Once the polls close, the counting and tabulation process will begin.

27 PARTIES PARTICIPATING IN LOCAL BY-ELECTIONS

27 political parties are competing in the local by-elections held in the towns. The order on the joint ballot was determined by a lottery held on April 21.

The parties appearing on the ballot in order are the Justice Union Party (Adalet Birlik Partisi), DEVA Party, Patriotic Party (Vatan Partisi), AK Party, True Path Party (Doğru Yol Partisi), Great Unity Party (Büyük Birlik Partisi), Felicity Party (Saadet Partisi), New Turkey Party (Yeni Türkiye Partisi), Communist Movement of Turkey (Türkiye Komünist Hareketi), CHP, Local and National Party (Yerli ve Milli Parti), Motherland Party (Anavatan Partisi), Democratic Left Party (Demokratik Sol Parti), Future Party (Gelecek Partisi), Technology Development Party (Teknoloji Kalkınma Partisi), IYI Party, Key Party (Anahtar Parti), New Welfare Party (Yeniden Refah Partisi), Democrat Party (Demokrat Parti), Justice Party (Adalet Partisi), Anatolian Union Party (Anadolu Birliği Partisi), Communist Party of Turkey (Türkiye Komünist Partisi), MHP, Victory Party (Zafer Partisi), Independent Turkey Party (Bağımsız Türkiye Partisi), People's Liberation Party (Halkın Kurtuluş Partisi), and Center Right Party (Merkez Sağ Parti).
