Postponed: Erdoğan is heading to the US

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is traveling to Washington, the capital of the US, for the NATO summit. A 75th-anniversary commemoration program will be held on July 9, the first day of the summit.

President Erdoğan will also be present at this program.

HE WILL MEET WITH NATO LEADERS

According to TRT Haber, Erdoğan will attend the meeting of the heads of state and government of the 32-member alliance on Wednesday, July 10.

On the evening of the same day, the leaders and their spouses will meet at a dinner to be hosted by US President Joe Biden at the White House.

The leaders will also gather around the same table on Thursday, July 11, for the NATO-Ukraine Council meeting.

Erdoğan will hold numerous bilateral meetings there. It is expected that in the meetings he holds, Erdoğan will address the Israel-Hamas war and the massacre in Gaza, and make assessments regarding the steps that need to be taken for lasting peace.

DEFENSE MEASURES WILL BE EVALUATED AT THE SUMMIT

The President will hold a press conference before departing from Washington. At this year's NATO summit, alliance members will address the issue of security.

THE US VISIT HAD BEEN POSTPONED

Erdoğan's visit to the US, which was planned for May 9, had been postponed. It was stated that the decision to postpone was made due to a change in Erdoğan's schedule.

Speaking to Bloomberg, a White House official had responded to the question of whether the meeting between US President Joe Biden and Erdoğan would take place before the NATO Summit to be held in Washington on July 9-11 by saying, “It is not certain, but likely before that visit.”
