Pre-election move from Özgür Özel: Roadmap for CHP's Presidential Candidate Office clarified
The Presidential Candidate Office, which met under the leadership of CHP leader Özgür Özel, has clarified its short and long-term work plan. Shadow ministers will prepare a comprehensive government program in coordination with policy boards. The program is aimed to be announced to the public before the elections, and the first stop for field work will be the earthquake zone.
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel held a comprehensive meeting the other day with the individuals serving in the Presidential Candidate Office, which was established to shape his party's vision for governance. According to the report by Cumhuriyet, the office's work plan for the upcoming period was discussed during the meeting.
TWO-STAGE PLAN FOR THE NEW PERIOD
According to the decisions made at the meeting, the shadow ministers serving in the candidate office will first establish policy boards related to their own areas of responsibility. Following the completion of these structures, a short-term action calendar covering the winter months will be prepared. Subsequently, a broader program covering approximately one year will be put into effect.
The long-term plan to be prepared will include a wide framework ranging from field activities to meetings with sector representatives, and from contacts with non-governmental organizations to public meetings. At the same time, the infrastructure work for the government program to be created in line with the CHP's governance goals will be carried out during this process. While shadow ministers will continue to meet every two weeks under the chairmanship of Özgür Özel, they will also hold regular meetings with their own policy boards.
COORDINATION ON COMMON TOPICS
Shadow ministers who have taken on responsibilities in similar areas are planned to conduct joint work when necessary. While it is envisioned that those responsible for labor, agriculture, industry, and treasury areas will act together under the economy heading, it is aimed that shadow ministers in the fields of interior, foreign policy, and national defense will work in coordination on defense and security issues.
CHP staff serving in the candidate office stated that a comprehensive government program would be presented at the end of this process, noting, “We want to complete the program before the election and explain to people as soon as possible what we will do under a CHP government, in a more concrete form than our updated party program.” The program is planned to be shared with the public a few months before the election.
CONTRIBUTION FROM İMAMOĞLU TO THE PROCESS
Providing information regarding the contribution of the imprisoned CHP Presidential Candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu to the efforts, party staff stated that the process is being carried out through different channels. The staff said, “Of course there are difficulties, but he conveys his notes through his lawyers and the deputies who visit him. The work we prepare also reaches him. He conveys his thoughts to us accordingly. We will continue to receive his opinions in this way.”
On the other hand, it is planned that the members of the Presidential Candidate Office will begin their field program in February and that the first visits will be made to the provinces affected by the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes.
