President Erdoğan: Everyone has great responsibilities to maintain the ceasefire in Gaza

Erdoğan spoke at a joint press conference with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

President Erdoğan said, "We observe an increase in actions and rhetoric involving xenophobia, racism, and Islamophobia in Europe. This also worries the Turkish community."

Erdoğan stated, "We will continue our cooperation with Germany in the context of regional issues such as developments in Syria, the latest situation in Gaza, and the war in Ukraine. A Syria where lasting peace and prosperity prevail is the desire of us all."

President Erdoğan used the expression, "Everyone has great responsibilities to maintain the ceasefire in Gaza. As the international community, we must continue our efforts for a two-state solution."

Highlights from President Erdoğan's statements are as follows:

"Last year marked the centenary of the friendship agreement between Turkey and Germany. The high-level visits that have taken place recently and our meetings on international platforms are the clearest manifestation of the close dialogue between the two countries.

In our talks, we discussed regional developments as well as the steps we can take to deepen our bilateral cooperation. Our economic and trade relations are quite strong. We continue to increase our trade volume and encourage mutual investments.

The fight against terrorism, irregular migration, the visa issue, the defense industry, and matters concerning the Turkish community in Germany were also on our agenda. 

I wish for the elections to be held in Germany on February 23 to be auspicious. The security, prosperity, and well-being of the Turkish community are at the top of our agenda with Germany. We observe an increase in actions and rhetoric involving xenophobia, racism, and Islamophobia across Europe. This situation also worries the Turkish community."
