President Erdoğan: In democracies, the opposition is as responsible as the government

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated, "Resorting to rhetoric with a high dose of threats and provocation to mask a corruption agenda is an extremely cheap and stale form of politics. In democracies, the opposition is as responsible as the government. When the interests of the country and the nation are at stake, they must act responsibly."

President Erdoğan: In democracies, the opposition is as responsible as the government

Pointing out that every war produces its own economy, President Erdoğan said, "A handful of savage capitalists who control hot money are growing fat and adding to their wealth by practically snatching the morsel from the mouths of billions of people from Africa to Asia, from America to Latin America. While the bread on the tables of the middle and lower-income groups is shrinking, their bank accounts are swelling every day. It is a fact that every war produces its own economy. In other words, every war has its winners and losers. However, with the Iran War, this situation has exceeded the limits of endurance and has reached destructive dimensions in terms of global economic prosperity. Behind the crises that cannot be resolved and the conflicts that cannot be ended in many parts of the world, there is a huge role, influence, and sabotage attempt by parasites who profit from the crisis, as much as the uncompromising attitude of the parties involved," he stated.

"Unfortunately, the opposition has chosen to turn the process into a tool of exploitation for its political interests and has resorted to crisis opportunists"

Stating that there are those who are trying to exploit the crisis process in Turkey, President Erdoğan noted the following:

"Unfortunately, we observe that there are those in our country who are trying to fish in troubled waters. By injecting hopelessness, pessimism, and despair into society, they are trying to emerge from this extraordinary process with political and financial gains. I must express this very clearly and plainly; instead of making constructive criticisms and adopting a style that prioritizes Turkey during the Iran War and the subsequent period that brought our region to the brink of the abyss, the opposition has unfortunately chosen to turn the process into a tool of exploitation for its political interests and has resorted to crisis opportunists. Even in such a period, they could not refrain from acting with the logic of 'let the government be worn down, even if Turkey loses.' We see with regret that they insist on continuing this attitude."

"In democracies, the opposition is as responsible as the government"

Emphasizing that being an opposition does not mean being so blinded that one would set the country on fire, President Erdoğan said, "Instead of strengthening the solution-producing capacity of the political institution by calling right right and wrong wrong, they unfortunately cannot go beyond calling what the government says is white, black, and what it says is right, wrong. Worse still, this is done in an extremely ugly, extremely hurtful, and destructive style, the likes of which are rarely seen in our political history. However, being an opposition does not mean distorting, manipulating, or being so blinded that one would set the country on fire for political gain. The duty of the opposition is not to incite, provoke, or try to profit from economic hitmanship. Especially resorting to rhetoric with a high dose of threats and provocation to mask a corruption agenda is an extremely cheap and stale form of politics. In democracies, the opposition is as responsible as the government. When the interests of the country and the nation are at stake, they must act responsibly," he said.

"No one has the right to strike a blow to our country's interests"

Stating that the value of Turkey must be appreciated, President Erdoğan said, "I would like to remind you that in a period when our region is passing through a ring of fire, when no one, including developed countries, can see ahead, and when a new equation is being established in the global system, the opposition must act as sensitively as we do and display a domestic and national stance. Who benefits from and who is served by the words spoken on podiums, the messages given on screens, and the pontificating on social media must be calculated very well, and an accounting of whether it is in the country's interest must be made very well. As we always say, there is no other Turkey. As 86 million people, we have no other homeland than this paradise country. No one has the right to harm this, to cast a shadow over the environment of stability and trust in Turkey, or to strike a blow to our country's interests by hiding behind the excuse of 'I am opposing'," he said.
